On process, ritual, and creating at House of the Lorde.

For nearly two weeks, Keyierra Collins, a Chicago-based movement artist, was held in our sanctuary for an artist residency. This focused time, sponsored by Chicago Dancemakers Forum, supported the development of their ongoing work, How I Found My Feet Again.

Being able to offer time and space to Keyierra felt like a manifestation of one of House of the Lorde’s core purposes. To be a creative and spiritual home.

At the completion of the residency, Keyierra opened the doors for an invitation-only lab in progress. Guests were invited to step into her process with an interactive ritual that centered collective rest and ancestral communion.

Below, we share images by Jovan Landry and reflections from Keyierra, offered in their own words and first shared via Instagram.

We hope House of the Lorde can continue to be a space that nurtures creative process, rest, and deep soul work.

Thank you, Keyierra, for trusting us.
