Chicago Burlesque Classes 4-Week Session | $125 Sundays | 2-3 pm August 2 - 30 (NO CLASS AUG 23) Intro to Burlesque: Slow Burn Edition Beginner-friendly • No experience needed • Small group Ready to slow down? This 4-week series is your invitation into burlesque through the art of anticipation. Rooted in the practice of the slow burn, this class explores how presence, intention, and restraint can transform even the simplest gesture into something magnetic. Whether you're brand new to burlesque or looking to deepen your relationship with movement, this class meets you right where you are. Led by Po'Chop, you'll explore grace, musicality, and the power of taking your time. Each week, we'll break things down step-by-step so you can feel supported, challenged, and celebrated. Expect to: Explore foundational burlesque techniques through the lens of the slow burn Develop grace, stillness, and intentionality in your movement Build confidence through presence rather than performance perfection Strengthen your connection to your body and sensuality Be in a room where everyone is learning together By the end of the series, you'll have a deeper understanding of burlesque's quieter powers and feel more at home moving at your own pace. Details Heels (suede or rubber-soled) encouraged but not required All bodies and dance levels welcome Cost a barrier? Two scholarship spots per class are reserved for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, and queer folks for whom cost is a barrier. They are co-founder of House of the Lorde, co-producer of Notes on Masculinity, and creator of The Black Burlesque Directory.
