About the event
The Reading Room is a casual and creative gathering dedicated to studying the works of Black feminist writers and thinkers. Each month, we read together, sit with big ideas, and open space for conversation, reflection, and connection. No advance reading is required. We read the text together in the room.
This October, we’ll read drea brown’s “Conjuring the Ghost: A Call and Response to Haints,” from brown's book Conjuring the Haint: The Haunting Poetics of Black Women. Together, we’ll explore haunting, memory, survival, and the things that refuse to disappear, considering what ghosts and haints might offer us as ways of seeing, knowing, and navigating.
