About the event
Since 2000, musicians across Central, West, and Southern Africa have shaped a wave of urban dance through choreographic innovation with each album release. These styles have emerged and taken hold across generations, living in family celebrations, on the streets, and in nightclubs. Today, these movements form a growing legacy, influencing the choreographic language of contemporary dance across the continent.
In this workshop, members of Compagnie Multicorps invite participants into this evolving vocabulary through movement, rhythm, and shared experience. Together, we’ll explore how dance carries culture, memory, and transformation across generations.
Drawing from the company’s broader artistic research, participants will also engage movement as a way of relating to the world, where gesture becomes both personal expression and collective dialogue.
After the workshop, we’ll gather in the café for food by Simplest Tastes, conversation, and time to be in community with one another and the artists.
