Sole Work

Class Details

Chicago Dance/Movement Class Sole Work: Foot Care as Self Care March 18 | 6:30 - 7:30 PM $25 Sole Work is a slow, intentional workshop centered on building practices of self care from the ground up. This offering turns toward the feet as a site of labor. This workshop is especially supportive for those navigating achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, or general foot fatigue who are looking for gentle, sustainable paths toward relief and reconnection. This is not a medical or clinical session. It is a care based practice rooted in attention and listening. Our feet carry us through work and rest, through joy and grief, through standing, waiting, dancing, surviving. And yet they are often the first place we ignore until they demand to be heard. In this one time workshop, we will tend to our feet as an act of care and presence. Through guided self massage, warming and strengthening exercises, gentle touch, stillness, and reflection, we will practice listening to what the feet are holding and what they are asking for now. This is an invitation to slow down, feel, and offer care without urgency. All work is self guided. No partner touch. All bodies welcome. Modifications, including seated options, will be available. Cost a barrier? Two scholarship spots per class are held for Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and queer folks for whom cost is a barrier. If that’s you, please apply at www.houseofthelorde.com/scholarship About Po’Chop Jenn Freeman, who also navigates this world as Po’Chop, is an interdisciplinary artist who weaves burlesque, drag, storytelling, and movement into worlds that illuminate and interrogate Black queer life. They are the co founder of House of the Lorde, co producer of Notes on Masculinity, a beloved drag king cabaret, and the creator of The Black Burlesque Directory. Their work has been supported by United States Artists, Dance USA, the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, Urban Bush Women, and Chicago Dancemakers Forum. They have been named one of the Top 50 Most Influential Burlesque Artists by 21st Century Burlesque Magazine.
