Burlesque Poetics

Class Details

Burlesque Poetics June 15 | 3-4:30 PM Bringing together the artforms of burlesque and poetry, this class is designed to engage your intellect, body and poetic soul. In this 90 minute class Miss Aurora will guide you through impassioned discussions about your personal connections to both artforms and share her insights on how poetic devices can be conceptually applied to burlesque. Then it’s time to get everyone moving with a physical warm up, followed by some theater games/exercises that delve into the how of translating words into movement. In the last section of class, participants will have a small window of time to choreograph a short phrase of movement to an excerpt of a poem and then share with the class. For Burlesquers who want to include poetry in their performance, poets who want to burlesque, and everyone in between. Bring comfortable clothing you can move in and a poem you would like to set movement to.
